JOB SUMMARY The Statutory Accountant is a confident, multi-skilled, and capable finance professional with excellent knowledge of finance and accounting procedures. Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills and be able to provide financial information to all areas of the business while ensuring that all financial information is accurate. Having a proven ability to drive out inefficiencies through process improvement as well as assisting in the maintenance and development of financial systems and accounting procedures. Proficient in tracking and communicating deadlines relative to annual budgets and audits. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE ROLE Support the month end, quarter end and year end closing process, which includes monthly financial close workbook preparation Organize and review a variety of financial data, reporting it in a way that is useful and understandable Become well-versed in month end balance sheet account reconciliations in Blackline Prepare various journal entries for conversion GAAP to Statutory statements in accordance with NAIC rules and standards Upload quarterly and annual financial statements to SOVOS and clearing validations Prepare and file Statutory Financial Statements for several companies to TDI and NAIC: Annual, Quarterly, RBC, HMO, April Supplements and Management and Discussion Analysis Perform the month end close and produce journal entries under minimal supervision Periodic maintenance and reconciliation of journal entries Produce analyses for monthly balance sheets and income statements for reporting by management Proficient with spreadsheets and databases Self-starter with efficient time management and organizational skills Foundational knowledge in Statutory Financial Statements Command of Statutory Accounting Microsoft Excel experience is highly desired Adeptness in Full Cycle Accounting Solid understanding of general ledger Statutory Financial Reporting experience Ensures compliance with regulatory reporting requirements. SALARY The pay range for this position is $31.26/hour (entry-level qualifications) and $54.63/hour (highly experienced) The specific rate will depend upon the successful candidate's specific qualifications and prior experience. KEY SUCCESS FACTORS Bachelor's degree or higher in accounting or higher. Must have experience as Health insurance Statutory Foundational knowledge of statutory health financial statements for at least 3 years. Ability to work within spreadsheets and databases. Ability to prioritize work and balance multiple projects and deadlines. Sharp, analytical thinking abilities, always seeking to draw connections and identify the "why." Maintains professional growth through participation in educational programs and professional organizations and activities to maintain knowledge of current trends, practices, and developments. Conducts finance training for BSWH personnel as directed.
