Job Title : Senior Pastor Purpose : The Senior Pastor works in harmony with the Staff and Leadership Team, understanding the beliefs, mission, values, and strategy of Antrim BIC Church. The Lead Pastor’s primary responsibilities center around what is outlined in Ephesians 4:11-12 and 1 Peter 5:2-3. As Senior Pastor he strives to glorify God by providing ministerial oversight through shepherding the flock in spiritual and relational growth by modeling what it looks like to love God and love people. General Job Description : The Senior Pastor provides overall leadership in the church. Provides spiritual oversight to protect the church from doctrinal error. The Senior Pastor must be a leader among leaders, being the voice in guiding the church body and growth and service for Christ.Preaching: Prepare and deliver sermons (two services each Sunday) that are relevant, Biblical, expository, seeker sensitive, and challenge both Christians and non-believers alike to become fully devoted followers of Christ. Messages that are in line with the overall Mission, Vision and Direction of the church. Lining up creative themes/elements to include in presentation of message (i.e. video, interactive, dramas, and stage design) General: Seeks God’s direction and develops God’s vision for our church, collaborating with the Elders, Church Board, and Staff in a way that maximizes our spiritual gifts and resources available. Lead the staff and church body by example spiritually, personally, and professionally in areas including personal prayer, Bible study, evangelism, and family life, towards a common, long-term position of unity and godliness to impact our community. Works closely with the Elder Board. Provides supervision, guidance and development for direct reports. Assist with visitations, weddings, and funerals as needed. Counsel as requested and refer to psychologist for more extensive counseling as needed. Be visible and approachable to the congregation at church events. Reporting relationships: Reports to: Church Board and BIC Bishop Direct reports: Administrative Pastor, Congregational Care Pastor, Connections Pastor, Women’s Ministry Director, Music Director, Youth Ministry Director, Children’s Ministry Director, Christmas Concert Director Qualifications : A personal, vital relationship with Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord. A person of integrity and mature Christian character. Gifted in leadership, organization, and administration. Graduate in Biblical Studies or related field, MDiv preferred. Has served in a Preaching Pastor role 8-10 years with at least five years of experience as a Senior Pastor in a church with a minimum of 300 attendees. Demonstrated experience and outcomes in community outreach programs aimed at pointing the local community to love and forgiveness found in Jesus Christ. Ability to teach, lead, and stand firmly in the face of societal decay. Experience supervising and leading a staff team in effective relationships, vision, and outcomes leading to spiritual growth in those that enter our doors. Has strengths in team building, vision casting, and an abundance of Biblical wisdom. Self-motivated and disciplined in prayer life, Bible study, and love for people from all walks of life. Supports and mobilizes the Antrim BIC Mission Statement: To evangelize, encourage, equip, and engage all people to be true worshippers for God’s glory. Training in Biblical counseling or a willingness to receive such training Attends monthly Board meetings and serves as the staff lead for these meetings. Faithfully attends and engages with the weekly staff meeting. Ability to work well with others; ability to teach and train others; communication and public relations skills; positive and enthusiastic attitude; not prone to anger, criticism or negativity; has a servant heart and attitude; is both flexible and teachable; is able to convey a calm and peaceful presence to those in times of need.
