California Film Institute 2024 Mill Valley Film Festival Box Office Manager Location: San Rafael, CA (15 minutes North of the Golden Gate Bridge) Status: Full-Time, Salary, Seasonal, Hybrid/Remote, onsite starting 9/23/24 Dates: 8/12/24 through 10/18/24 Compensation: $1,280/week About CAFILM: CAFILM supports its mission to celebrate film as art and education by presenting the annual Mill Valley Film Festival and DocLands Documentary Film Festival, exhibiting film year-round at the non-profit Christopher B. Smith Rafael Film Center in San Rafael, CA and Sequoia Cinema in Mill Valley, CA, and building the next generation of filmmakers and film lovers through CFI Education. Founded in 1978, the Mill Valley Film Festival is a world-renowned 11-day event held every October, screening over 200 innovative US and international films for over 60,000 attendees. MVFF has a stellar reputation as a filmmakers' festival with a high-profile, prestigious, non-competitive environment celebrating the best in independent and world cinema in gorgeous Northern California. About the job: Your work in the role of MVFF Box Office Manager is directly responsible for creating an exceptional and memorable ticketing experience for customers and guests of the Mill Valley Film Festival. Ticketing and access to the Festival intersects with the work of every department of the organization and therefore the work of the box office manager. You'll oversee all box office & ticketing operations leading up to and during the Festival. You will recruit, train, and lead a team of friendly box office staff intent on providing ease of access, support, and an enjoyable experience at the Festival. Key areas of responsibility: Manage the creation of program ticketing and pass/credential framework within the Festival's ticketing application (Agile Ticketing). Coordinate all complimentary ticket and voucher printing/distribution. Work with Marketing department staff to build promotional offerings and provide audience data. Collaborate closely with Development department staff to ensure member, donor, and sponsor benefits are delivered accurately and efficiently. Hire and train all box office staff. Build a venue staffing plan and ensure working hours are submitted on time for payroll. Assist the IT Manager and Operations Manager in the set-up and strike of box office locations Supply box office and theater operations staff with all necessary equipment and supplies. Deliver daily box office reports to Festival staff. In collaboration with the Finance Manager, ensure timely and accurate cash and credit card reconciliation for all nightly and weekly deposits and ticket income. Submit a detailed wrap report and participate in post-Festival wrap meetings, as necessary. About you: You have the demonstrable experience cultivating an environment that aims to leave customers feeling good about their experience with an organization. To deliver on this, you have a highly attuned sense of compassion, empathy, and a drive to constantly help others. This position will also be an active leader in promoting mutually respectful behavior from anyone associated with CAFILM or the Mill Valley Film Festival. You're experienced with addressing the needs of several stakeholders, sometimes with competing priorities. Our work in the Operations Department aims to support the work of the larger Festival staff, thus you understand the value in prioritizing relationships with your colleagues. You're an eager problem-solver. Technology is your good friend and you're adept in diagnosing and troubleshooting software issues. You have experience with and understand the details that create a comprehensive picture of all the mechanisms and situations that comprise a Film Festival box office operation.
