DIOCESE OF ALLENTOWN Director of Advancement, Catholic Charities Position Description Job Title: Director of Advancement FSLA : Exempt Position Type : Full Time; 37.5 hours/week Working Days/ Hours : Monday- Friday 8 AM- 4PM; occasional nights and weekends may be required. Department/ Group : Administration Accountability : Reports to the Managing Director Location : Lehigh/Northampton In-Office Travel Required: Regional Summary The Director of Advancement leads Catholic Charities' fundraising, internal and external communications, and marketing initiatives. The Director of Advancement is responsible for identifying and securing financial grantors, corporate, and individual gifts; planning and implementing a long-term sustainable funding strategy for the organization; building and maintaining relationships with community members and key donors; and creating and executing a comprehensive internal and external communications, marketing and development plans to strengthen the agency's role in the community. Duties and Responsibilities Design and implement a comprehensive development program focused on all phases of fundraising, including private and government grants, appeals, corporate and foundation giving, and major gifts. Plan, develop, and implement a comprehensive donor engagement program that includes acknowledgments, donor recognition, and stewardship to retain and increase philanthropic giving. Build and foster long-term working relationships with members of the business community, government officials and other organizations within the private, corporate gifting community. Manage and ensure the integrity and accuracy of the donor database. Write compelling grant proposals and comply with all grant reporting requirements in a timely manner. Research additional opportunities for giving to find new grantors and donors. Work collaboratively with staff members to identify program opportunity development. Serve as editor and proofreader for internal and external communications. Supervise all agency collateral pieces for internal and external communication including website, imaging and brochures, email, social media, newsletters, advertising, annual report, video, flyers, promotional pieces and more. Supervise development and maintenance of website. Draft press releases and interface with the Diocese of Allentown's Communications Department as directed by the Managing Director. Prepare and deliver development and communication reports for the Managing Director and Board of Directors. Represent Catholic Charities at events outside the agency to increase community support and build collaborative relationships. Other duties as assigned. Minimum Educational Qualifications Bachelor's degree in a related field is required. Master's Degree or equivalent experience is a plus. Required Knowledge and Skills Due to the nature and mission of the Catholic Church, all employees are bound to exhibit respect for the teachings and discipline of the Church regarding matters of faith and morals. A minimum of 2-3 years of increasingly responsible and successful experience managing and implementing a comprehensive fund development program and producing charitable contributions is required. Excellent oral and written communication skills are required. Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple tasks, with flexibility to meet changing needs and priorities as they occur and be a team player. Excellent prioritization and problem-solving skills, strong organizational skills, and attention to detail. High proficiency in all Microsoft Office applications, industry-standard donor databases, and graphic design applications. Physical demands Notwithstanding applicable ADA accommodations, while performing the duties of this job, employee is regularly required to: sit; walk and stand; speak or hear, both in person and by telephone. Use of hands to operate standard office equipment; with occasional reaching and lifting up to twenty pounds is required. Employee is required to be able to drive his/her vehicle to other Catholic Charities or Diocese of Allentown locations; the ability to drive to those locations safely is required, unless exceptions are explicitly recommended by the Managing Director, or in keeping with ADA requirements. Working Conditions General office setting, some community settings. Must be willing/able to drive anywhere within the 5 counties of the Diocese of Allentown and on occasion outside of the Diocese of Allentown. Must be willing/able to travel to conferences, trainings, etc, when required. Must demonstrate respect and professionalism in all interactions with staff, clients, volunteers and donors. Normal work hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 to 4:00pm. May be required to work evenings and weekends to accommodate agency functions and/ or donors' scheduling needs. Required Clearances and Trainings Prior to start date, all Safe Environment Clearances must be received and reviewed, including FBI fingerprint, Pennsylvania State Police and Pennsylvania Department of Health and Human Services clearances. All clearances must be renewed in accordance with Diocese of Allentown and/or Commonwealth of Pennsylvania for duration of employment. Prior to start date, completion of Mandated Reporter Training (MRT) and every 5 years thereafter or when required by agency, Diocese of Allentown, and/or Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. Prior to start date, completion of Protecting God's Children Training (PGC) and monthly online bulletins, as well as any recertification, for the duration of employment. Any additional requirements implemented by the Diocese of Allentown, the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania or specific grantors, for the duration of employment.
