The Department of Pathology is seeking a Lab Manager for the Blood Bank and Tissue & Cellular Therapy laboratory in the DeGowin Blood Center. Day-to-day tasks will include overseeing and managing operational, technical, and administrative functions. This position is 100% time, Monday-Friday, 1st shift.Duties to include: * Oversees the recruitment, orientation, training, and supervision of professional, technical, and clerical support staff. * Facilitates and coordinates the research and development activities within DeGowin. * Maintains knowledge of and ensures compliance with regulatory and accreditation requirements (e.g., FDA, FACT, AABB, CAP, NMDP, The Joint Commission and Miscellaneous CAR-T manufacturers). * Assists in the formulation and implementation of departmental goals and fiscal policies * Acts as a liaison between the Donor Center, Patient Services, Blood Bank/TCT, and the Research Associate. To learn more: https://medicine.uiowa.edu/pathology/about-usRequired Qualifications: * A Master's degree in Business Administration or Hospital and Health Administration or an equivalent combination of education or experience is required. * Considerable (3-5 years) clinical laboratory experience along with financial and personnel administration experience is required. * Reasonable knowledge of quality assurance and human resources activities is required. * Demonstrated knowledge of effective strategies for working with faculty, staff, and students from a variety of backgrounds and perspectives. * Must be proficient in computer software applications. * Certification (eligible) as a Medical Technologist or Clinical Laboratory Scientist by the American Society of Clinical Pathology and/or National Certification Agency is desirable. Specialist in Blood Bank certification is desired. * Some experience working in an academic health center is desired. * Knowledge of current AABB, CAP, NMDP and FACT standards along with FDA regulations is desirable.
