ABOUT THE ORGANIZATION Hope Haven Integrative Health is a naturopathic clinic emphasizing a holistic and preventative model of patient-centered healthcare for the entire family with comprehensive diagnosis and treatment. As part of HHIH?s care model, the following are included: point-of-care testing, venipuncture and collecting specimens, vaccinations, gynecological care and same day sick visits. HHIH provides compassionate care where the overall goal is to ensure all patients are seen, heard and cared for. DESCRIPTION ? Welcome and greet all patients in person and by telephone ? Verify patient insurance ? Collect co-pays, self-pays and co-insurance payments ? Update demographics and insurance information in the EMR (Athena Health) ? Upload photo of patients into EMR using Athena App ? Obtain prior authorizations and referrals when necessary ? Obtain appropriate Release of Information and Privacy signatures as needed ? Answer the phone while maintaining a polite, consistent phone manner, using proper telephone etiquette and documentation. Record phone messages and ensure the proper party receives them ? Responsible for keeping the reception area, examination rooms and office clean, organized and compliant with the HIPAA Privacy Rule ? Facilitate patient flow and being aware of delays and communicating with patients and clinical staff ? Schedule and cancel appointments while ensuring that the schedule is balanced ? Direct issues or potential issues to the provider ? Prepare patients for examination/appointment ? Perform initial patient intake to update medications, supplements and appropriate medical history ? Obtain vital signs (blood pressure, pulse, % oxygen saturation, weight, height, respiration rate, pain) ? Assist provider during appointments as needed ? Assist provider with vaccinations and minor procedures ? Assist provider during gynecological assessments ? Collect and prepare laboratory specimens ? Perform venipuncture as needed ? Generate appropriate lab orders within the electronic medical record (EMR - Athena system) ? Print requisitions for required blood work ? Keep track of and reorder supplies in a timely manner. ? Track and label unassigned lab reports and referrals in the EMR on a daily basis POSITION REQUIREMENTS ? Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant school with a high school diploma, or equivalent. Preferred Skills ? Apple iMac Desktop and iPad skills and knowledge including Pages and Numbers as well as the ability to prioritize multiple tasks. ? Proficient in creating PDF?s, scanning, faxing and troubleshooting ? Athena EMR experience a plus ? Familiarity with Vermont Vaccination Registry is a plus ?
