Summary We are seeking a Functional Safety Engineer to join our Vehicle Solutions Team. This role w ill evaluate product functional safety and establish procedures that balance Grayhill' s design applications to meet our customer needs. Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Additional responsibilities may be assigned. Develop processes to evaluate and document Grayhill Vehicle Solutions products to ISO 13849. Participate in proposal development by reviewing customer required functional safety ratings and required documentation. Integrate these requirements into the Grayhill development solution. Ability to perform risk assessment and determine Performance Levels and Category based on the risk assessment. Determine required Diagnostic Coverage for a design to achieve required safety rating. Knowledge of functional safety requirements as they relate to software. Lead software engineers with creation of safety-related software specification. Recommend, obtain, and document necessary software and hardware tools required to support the functional safety objectives. Coordinate documentation that allows maximum leverage of previous functional safety documentation packages. Recommend changes to existing procedures to support the functional safety mission. Streamline a process for developing product safety manuals. Interface with customer SME in support of required functional safety documentation. Ensure Grayhill stays current with functional safety and OEM requirements. Participate in professional organizations to ensure relevance. Assist Design Engineering with MTTFd calculations. Ability to travel 5 - 10% to support product development efforts. Education and Experience: Bachelor's degree (B. S.) in Engineering from four-year college or university 5+ years of industry experience working in an engineering capacity 3+ years of experience with ISO 13849 or related functional safety regulations Preferred Skills and Experience: Knowledge of 8/16/32 bit microprocessor based design Experience in developing functional safety documentation and procedures Vehicle networking knowledge (CAN, Lin, FlexRay etc) Ability to interpret customer requirements and develop detailed design documents Failure Mode Effects Analysis (FMEA) What we have to offer: You will be at the forefront of challenging work.
