About the role: As a cosmetology instructor you will be responsible for teaching all phases of the Cosmetology program to include sterilization, sanitation, and bacteriology; shampooing, rinsing and styling; hair and scalp care; manicuring and nail care; hair shaping; permanent waving; facials, arching, lash and brow tinting; hair coloring, bleaching, toning and lightening; anatomy, physiology, and chemistry; shop ethics, interpersonal skills, and sales; Tennessee Cosmetology Law; finger waving and pin curls; blow drying and curling irons; permanent waving; hair relaxing; dispensing supplies and desk operations; and computer salon applications. Responsibilities: Develop new curricula, course content, and methods of cosmetology instruction. Establishes a standard of classroom behavior and maintains classroom management in and outside of the school. Creates an educational environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and needs of the students; prepares instructional materials for classes assigned and provides written evidence of preparation to supervisor/administrator upon request. Prepare and maintain attendance rosters, student grades, book orders, etc. Maintain appropriate Licensure by attending instructor seminars every two years. Plans curriculum and prepares lessons and other instructional materials to meet individual needs of students within state and school requirements based on the educational, physical, and emotional levels of student development. Confers with parents, administrators, specialists, mental health staff, and appropriate resource staff to develop educational programs for students. Creates learning materials geared to students' abilities and interests. Motivates students and provides consistent reinforcement of learning skills and provides continuous assessment and feedback to students for all learning activities. Assists administration in implementing all policies, and rules governing student activities and conduct. Sponsors student activities/clubs/teams/organization and tutor students as requested. Performs other related duties as assigned or directed. Minimum Qualifications: Holds an active cosmetology instructor License Per State requirement, must be willing to obtain or holds an occupational education license. Related cosmetology 5 years work experience completed within the last 10 years. Must be physically and mentally able to perform the responsibilities and duties of the position.
