MOSI's Summer Science Camps' goal is to have fun while inspiring and enhancing curious minds. Creativity, imagination, and hands-on learning are keys to MOSI's summer science camps. Summer Science Camp instructors are experienced, energetic and creative in developing educational experiences for children completed grades Pre-K - 11th Grade. MOSI's summer camps offers weekly camps in a variety of areas from chemistry to robotics to marine biology. Our camps take place in classroom, laboratory, and outdoor settings. To check out our camp offerings go to https://mosi.org/program/school-break-camps/ Function : Develop and deliver curriculum for our campers to be learning, making, tinkering and exploring STEAM content through a hands-on approach. Responsibilities : •Work collaboratively with MOSI staff and outside experts to create and deliver camp programming. •Integrate science, math, engineering, art, and/or technology into camps. •Create age-appropriate curriculum for camp that incorporate critical thinking, problem solving and scientific methodology. •Participate in mandatory instructor training and orientation (May 11th) •Greet parents and students in a friendly and energetic manner. •Commitment to the philosophy and mission of MOSI. Qualifications: •Bachelor's degree preferred; Two-year degree or 5 years relevant experience may be substituted •Certified Florida Teaching Credential a plus •Two years' experience instructing children and developing lesson plans required •Science andor technology background or interest •Dependable and flexible with work schedule and duties •Experience serving diverse audiences of children •Valid Florida Driver's license required for travel camps •First Aid andor CPR certification a plus •Must be approved to work with children (clear Level II Background Screening through Department of Children & Families required) Dates, Hours, and Locations: •Every week is a new week with different camps, different students, and different teachers. •Weekly programs from May 28 - August 9, 2024 •Completed Kindergarten - 11th Grade Full-Day Camps: 8:30 a.m. - 4:15 p.m. as well as half-day 4 and 5 year olds. Hours for half day camps are 9:00am - 1:00pm. Flexible Schedule: •Work the majority of the summer or just a few weeks. (You must commit to the entire week and we ask that you work a minimum of two weeks) Compensation: Hours and rates of pay include preparation time. •Instructors will be paid $700/week when teaching a full 5-day camp Benefits: •Complimentary passes for general admission to MOSI. •Complimentary family membership to MOSI, Zoo Tampa, and the Florida Aquarium - valid through 12/31/24 •Complimentary admission to over 70 Florida Attractions through the Florida Attractions Association "Attraction Share" program. •Discounted employee rates for MOSI camps and programs.
