Adopt Eugene a Brown/Chocolate Mixed Breed (Large) / Mixed dog in Philadelphia

Meet Eugene. This sweet senior came to ACCT as a stray on 7/26. We are still getting to know Eugene but so far he has been a nervous, but sweet man. He will pancake on the ground at loud noises, but will solicit attention from his handlers and seek out comfort with a low wagging tail. Eugene has been very tolerant of all handling and for his medical exams. He has also shown interest in other dogs and may benefit from a home with another dog to keep him company. He also walked by a cat who happened to be outside while he was being walked, and while he was about 20 feet away, he did see her, and took two steps toward her and then started eating grass. Eugene needs an adopter or rescue who can provide him with a cozy and calm environment to spend his golden years in. Per volunteer 8/2: Very good boy! We took a walk to the cementary and for a "older dog- Eugene seems to get around just fine. Couldn't see any mobility issues. He does his own thing, wasn't too interested in treats but he did allow me to pet all over. We walked by dogs through the fence and was loose, wiggly and seemed exicted to see them. He's a sweetie Per volunteer 7/31: Eugene - skinny chocolate brown boy. Shut down in kennel but got very excited when he saw the leash! nice walker, no pulling. Very housetrained. Scared of loud noises. Other dogs seem to put him at ease, wags his tail at all dogs and good fence meets. Enjoyed light pets to head and butt (lots of dry skin, could use bath) Aloof in run walking around smelling but did solicit gentle pets when I did baby talk. Good boy who is learning to trust!
