Practice Area: Tax - Controversy and Dispute Resolution, Job Type: Attorney, Firm Type: Law Firm, Experience: 2 Years, A law firm in Philadelphia is seeking a Tax Controversy Associate Attorney to work directly with the Tax Controversy and Litigation Department Practice Group Leader and the Managing Shareholder. The ideal candidate will have 2-4 years of practical experience with federal tax controversy disputes, including audits, appeals, and litigation, with expertise in substantive federal income tax issues. Experience with corporate and partnership tax matters is a plus. Strong communication skills, attention to detail, and excellent academic and employment credentials are required. A degree in accounting, CPA license, or LL.M. in Tax is helpful, and admission to practice in at least one state, with Pennsylvania admission being a plus, is required. Duties:Collaborate with the Tax Controversy and Litigation Department Practice Group Leader and the Managing Shareholder on federal tax controversy matters.Handle audits, appeals, and litigation related to federal tax disputes.Conduct legal research and analysis on substantive federal income tax issues.Assist with corporate and partnership tax matters, as needed.Communicate effectively with clients, government agencies, and internal stakeholders.Prepare written documents, including legal memoranda, briefs, and correspondence.Participate in meetings, hearings, and negotiations related to tax controversy matters. Requirements:2-4 years of experience in federal tax controversy matters.Practical experience with audits, appeals, and litigation.Knowledge of substantive federal income tax issues.Experience with corporate and partnership tax matters (preferred).Strong communication skills, both oral and written.Attention to detail and ability to work independently.Excellent academic and employment credentials.Admission to practice in at least one state (Pennsylvania admission preferred).Experience with law firms, accounting firms, IRS, Tax Court, or Department of Justice (Tax Division) (preferred). Education:Bachelor's degree in Law (JD) required.LL.M. in Taxation or degree in Accounting (helpful). Certifications:CPA license (helpful). Skills:Legal research and analysis.Written and verbal communication.Client management.Negotiation and advocacy.Attention to detail.Team collaboration.
