Our employees are not only part of history, they're making history.Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems has an opening for a Systems Engineering (SE) Functional Homeroom Section Manager to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located in Melbourne, Florida.The selected candidate will lead a team of Modeling & Simulation Mission Engineering practitioners assigned across NGAS Melbourne programs and will report to the Specialty Engineering Department Manager on a 15% allocation. The selected candidate must currently have and continue to provide their own remaining 85% work scope. The Modeling & Simulation Mission Engineering Section Manager is responsible for the cultivation of mission engineering talent, the characterization of mission engineering statement of work (SOW), and the integration of mission engineering capabilities and processes into emerging and ongoing enterprises. The Section Manager is a functional home room (FHR) management point of contact for the Section, supporting and implementing all applicable functional initiatives.Attributes of Mission Engineering include exploration and discovery in the problem space, customer intimacy, "clean sheet of paper" approaches, alternative architectures, employment of modeling and simulation to specifically include manned aircraft interactive simulation, multi-domain perspectives, and the emphasis of effectiveness over performance. Products of Mission Engineering processes include concepts of employment (CONEMPS), concepts of operations (CONOPS), concept exploration rapid prototyping, the creation and validation of measures of effectiveness with associated evaluation architectures, quantitative analysis emphasizing responsiveness over rigor, new resource management approaches, and the cultivation of mission engineers.The selected candidate should thrive in a fast-paced work environment with high expectations, significantly diverse assignments, collaborative/team settings across all levels. BASIC QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor's of Science Degree and 9 years of related professional/military experience in engineering OR a Master's Degree and 7 years of related professional/military experience in engineering Experience in activities related to analysis, modeling and simulation relating to Mission Engineering. Active Top Secret clearance required with at least one active SAP/SAR access and ability to obtain SAP/SAR access. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Advanced degree in a field in a STEM field Knowledge of systems featuring manned and unmanned platforms. Experience working in two or more current SAP/SAR programs. Experience with modeling and simulation. Experience developmental test and/or operational test. Current access to the Strategic Systems Programs. Experience with talent recruiting, developing and retention. Experience with planning and managing internally funded NCTA efforts or CRAD/contractual efforts to achieve the intended objectives. Strong people skills including leadership, collaboration, value definition, tasking, accountability, and mentoring. Strong written and spoken communication skills and presentation skills. Experience in establishing and executing a staffing plan to support the achievement of project or programmatic goals. Experience with business capture and/or proposals. Experience leading study efforts in support of Mission Engineering, Operations Research, Affordability Analysis, Operations Analysis, Mission Analysis, Supportability Analysis, or Systems Analysis objectives. Scope of such experience could include problem definition, success and exit criteria definition, organization of approach, method selection, method development, method verification and validation, analysis, product development and reporting. Knowledge of airpower strategy, missions, scenarios, threats, capabilities, Concepts of Operations (CONOPS), and integration. Experience with manned aircraft interactive evaluation, simulation, and other open-loop methods. Military airpower experience (air crew operations, ground station crew operations, battle management and electronic warfare and/or information operations). Salary Range: $131,200 - $196,800The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
