LOCATION: Bulverde, TexasDOB: 08/03/2021 (Estimate)Dante was loved. You need to know that. His owner truly loved him and wanted to do right by him. She was not in good health so she was not able to provide him the proper socialization that a large breed puppy requires. She became aware of this and contacted an amazing canine behavioral specialist who was able to assess his deficits as well as his potential and start to work with this sweet big boy on a monthly basis. Sadly his owner was losing her battle with cancer. She passed away while Dante was staying with the kind specialist. The owner's family was at a loss as to what to do with this poor pup so they requested that the trainer keep Dante. He agreed to temporarily keep him and would continue working on behaviors. How amazing is that!? Dante ended up right where he needed to be at that time...with someone who wanted Dante in a stable, familiar environment and to continue to progress to the point that he could be adopted by a perfect forever family. Former Dante:• He was protective of his human• He did not know how to interact with other dogs and humans• He was nervous and anxious in certain settings• He was fearful at times• He did not like carsGiven the unique circumstances…none of that should be surprisingCurrent Dante:• He is a Velcro Dane • He is mostly good on a leash and continues to improve• He is good with dogs and people but needs slow introductions• He know several commands• He loves to cuddle• He does not resource guard or show aggression• He is crate trained• He has been good with kids but has had limited interactions• He would do best with another dog• He can be easily redirectedHe requires a calm, alpha personality to show him strength and confidence.He is still a work in progress…but with the most positive results yet to come!His foster is willing to provide a thorough history and specifics of Dante’s journey. What a resource to have a canine specialist’s expertise especially when he wants nothing more than to see this pup succeed and has focused on his improvement!Dante has been loved more than once…he had an owner and now a foster who have both wanted the very best for him.
