Bartholomew, "Bart" for short, has the most adorable puppy eyes that you can't help but want to bend down and give him a hug! He's a lowrider with a long body, short legs, and very short taupe colored fur. We believe he is around 3 years old and looks to be a Dachshund, Pit Bull Terrier and Basset Hound mix with maybe some Beagle as well. He is perfect lap size at 28 lbs. Bart is a sensitive and gentle hearted guy. He can be a little shy at first but he absolutely adores the people he knows and bonds very closely. He would like nothing more than to be snuggled up on the couch with you all day. He is not comfortable on leash yet and does not want to be your new adventure buddy - he's definitely a little homebody that will rather cuddle up with you watching Netflix all day than go to the beach or for a hike. Because he's not comfortable on leash and doesn't like to go for walks, Bart will need a home with his own fenced backyard space to go potty. He is housetrained in his current foster home with regular visits to the backyard. He is also crate trained and very, very food motivated! He is learning to take treats more gently and can be a bit mouthy when excited. He also is a little timid around lots of activity, loud noises, and large crowds so we think he would do best in a home without small children around but older, respectful dog-savvy children would be ok. Bart is fostered with several other dogs and happily co-exists with them and plays with them a little bit. He definitely prefers dogs around his size and can be a little intimidated by large dogs. He would be happiest in a home with a similar sized dog sibling but he would also be fine without other dogs in his forever home. Bart is a sweet and sensitive boy that will be a wonderful addition to a loving home.
