Meet Fiona! This adorable almost 6-month-old puppy was purchased from a breeder for $500 by an elderly couple who were not up for puppy mode. The wife has dementia, and the husband is in full-time caretaker mode. Their adult daughter begged them not to get a dog, but they didn’t listen. The daughter wound up taking Fiona into her care and reached out to our rescue for help. Fiona was lucky to have her as an advocate and the voice of reason. Fiona is described on her paperwork as a Bocker, a Cocker Spaniel and Beagle mix. She has a very sweet, social temperament and will make a great family dog. She’s not mouthy at all and has a gentle play style. She loves to play tug and fetch, but if you rough-house play with her, she doesn’t play back. She would be best paired with a young playful pup with a similar style of play. Fiona is being fostered with two dogs and a cat and does well as part of a pack. She is crate trained, sleeps through the night, and is doing well with house training. She is a fun, playful pup ready to bring joy and love to your family. We checked in with her foster mom, Julia, for a two-week update (8/14/23): “Fiona is doing great! She’s friendly and very social, great with cats and dogs, and loves to play. She does well in the crate and sleeps soundly through the night - no accidents. She’s mostly potty trained and mastered the doggy door in two days. She won’t let me know when she needs to go out yet, but she uses the pee pads in her puppy pen as a backup. She loves to play first thing in the morning but is very snuggly once she settles down. She will nap when I work from home. I think she will make a great family dog. She’s not mouthy at all, and if I play rough with her, she doesn’t play back. She loves being outside to sniff, explore, and play. I read up about her breeds, and it sounds like a good mix. She’s actually a lot less stubborn than my Beagle. I love how friendly she is…She doesn’t meet a stranger. Saturday, I had a bunch of people over for a cookout, and she was not fearful of anybody. She had eight new best friends within 5 minutes of meeting them. She’s also very smart.” Apply today!
