COME MEET SIMBAAND OTHER ADOPTABLE LOVEPAWS DOGS THIS SATURDAY 9/9 FROM 2:00-5:00 p.m. AT WORLD OF BEER LOCATED AT 7200 WISCONSIN AVENUE IN BETHESDA, MD. 6-month old Simba was recently surrendered to the shelter with his parents and four siblings. Judging from the condition of their coats, they were kept as outdoor dogs, which is why we’re surprised that after only a couple of days in his foster home, they’re reporting that he is almost fully potty trained and he sleeps through the night without accidents. He hasn’t learned yet when to ask to go potty but he can hold it for a few hours at a time. Simba is very sweet and playful, he loves to play with their 12-year-old daughter and go on walks with her (with adult supervision, of course). He loves squeaky toys but most of all he loves to be petted and showered with attention. Simba’s going to be a big boy and is playful but not rough. Little ones may get knocked down a bit until he learns how to settle around them. He has become quickly attached to his human sister and will cry when she leaves him, but quiets down after a few minutes. Apartment living may not be ideal as he can be loud in his protests. He doesn’t care for the crate yet, but we’ll keep working on positive associations with it. It’s likely that this is the first time in his life that he's ever been contained. He sleeps through the night in the crate as long as he can see his human sister and sense her presence. A toy and a blanket help. Simba met his foster “brother” on a morning walk today and they did well together. After some initial barking, he decided that bigger dogs can be friends too and they played well in the park. He saw the neighbor’s cat during his walk and he barked at it, he wasn’t aggressive at all, it was just new to him and we’ve learned this is his reaction in new situations.
