Adopt Cowboy a Black American Staffordshire Terrier / Mixed dog in Columbia

Location:
Columbia, SC
Description:

Howdy y'all! My name is Cowboy. I have black and white spots just like a cow. What you might notice first about me (other than my striking good looks) is my big paws and soft ears! I am about 8-10 months old and weigh about 29 pounds. I have a huge appetite so my foster mom makes me eat out of a special bowl to slow me down, but hey-I'm a growing boy who loves to eat! Can't blame me for that!I am a sweet and silly Staffordshire terrier boy who is eager to learn and show you all my affection. I was found roaming in a neighborhood with my buddy after we were dumped and left to fend for ourselves. My buddy and I do everything together and I've learned a lot of my kind personality and demeanor from her. I would really appreciate another buddy as I love to cuddle and run around the yard with them. The quickest way to grab my attention is with a bag of treats! I learned how to sit and I've been sitting at every chance I get. Other than treats, I love, love, love my peanut butter filled kongs. They help keep me busy and since I'm young, I definitely need some help occupying my busy mind. Sometimes they will even freeze it which just prolongs the deliciousness! It's marvelous! One of my favorite toys and activities other than my kong, is chewing on an antler. I'm pretty smart and will go grab my antler and bring it with me if I want to chew something. I also like to combine my love for treats with a challenge like a snuffle mat or treat dispensing puzzle toy. So basically, I am a treat loving genius! My buddy would let me take her toys and antlers as I always think what someone else has is better. She loves me so she will let me do it, but I might need to learn any new friend's boundaries to be able to respect them. I also love to cuddle and sit all over her as I have no concept of personal space. I have been around two cats and sometimes I may get excited and chase them, but usually I just want to sniff them and see if they have any food left to share. We can definitely learn to coexist as long as they are cool with me being a little bit of an excitable puppy sometimes. Speaking of coexisting, I have yet to be around children to my foster parent's knowledge, but I am so sweet it won't be an issue. My latest favorite activity is kind of embarrassing, but I'll be brave and share. There's this red dot that comes out at night that I love to chase. I think I've heard it called a laser. I'm too busy focusing and stomping around trying to catch it to care about what it actually is. I've always been told that life is best lived pretending like no one is watching!Next matter of business is walks! I am such a good boy on my leash. I like to think of it more as a stroll than a walk. When I'm not on a walk, I enjoy laying in the sunshine. I largely enjoy being wherever my human is. If you leave me outside, chances are I'll wait at the doorstep until you either join me or let me in. There is a fear in the back of my mind that the ones I love most will leave me again, so I love to be close!I am still learning my house manners. I was previously taught how to use pee pads, but I might sometimes have accidents. I am trying really hard to learn to only go outside. Especially if it means I get tons of praise and treats when I do!! The crate makes me anxious and uncomfortable, but I'm a really good boy during car rides. But enough about me! I can't wait to meet you!Cowboy is part of our Ambassador's Program. Although they are not a Pawmetto Lifeline dog, they have received the same high standards of care. Vaccinations and spay/neuter are included in the adoption fee. Pawmetto Lifeline wants every animal to have a chance to find a loving home.
