Dixon is another long resident dog who has been in the shelter since July 28th, that’s 43 days! Dixon is seriously such a good dog, but unfortunately has only met a handful of potential adopters. Dixon is very friendly and does great with meeting new people. Even with spending so long in the shelter he is still such a happy and wiggly guy! Dixon originally arrived to the shelter with his friend Dixie and they got along well. Dixon has done well around the other dogs in the shelter and we can always accommodate a dog meet and greet if needed! Dixon may not be fully potty trained, but he has done well in the shelter. We believe he was an outdoor dog previously and he does best with having free access to outside. During his time in the shelter he has learned how to use a doggy door. It is not required that Dixon has a doggy door in his new home, but he would definitely appreciate regular walks / outdoor playtime! Dixon does walk well on a leash and knows the cues “sit” and “down”. He has recently been training with one of our volunteers and is working on “heel”. Dixon does great with redirection, is treat motivated and eager to please! Dixon is so cuddly. He loves attention and being hugged. Of course, he will want to get to know you first! Dixon is really a great dog and we have loved having the pleasure getting to know him. If you believe your home would be a good fit for Dixon we encourage you to come and meet him!
