For San Francisco candidates : Pursuant to the San Francisco Fair Chance Ordinance, we will consider for employment qualified applicants with arrest and conviction records Responsibilities State Farm Insurance Company's Sacramento Claim Litigation Counsel Law Firm, Tiza Serrano Thompson & Associates, is seeking a paralegal, preferably insurance defense, experience. The ideal candidate will have some prior trial experience, civil preferred, strong work ethic, customer focus, initiative, communication and technology skills. In addition, this position may have a heavy emphasis on working with attorneys handling third party litigation, first party claims and law and motion. Law school students, preferably 2L, 3L, or 4L from an accredited law school, ABA preferred, looking for law firm experience are encouraged to apply. The most qualified candidates will have significant insurance defense/civil litigation and trial experience, and working familiarity with local court rules and civil procedure. Background and experience in preparing draft discovery responses, consistent and positive client contact and customer service, preparing billing summaries, expert retention, filing motions and pleadings is required in a high volume case load environment. We provide a congenial work environment with a manageable case load, ample support staff and no billable hour requirement. We offer a business casual environment, competitive salary, and a comprehensive benefits package, which includes 401K. The selected candidate should plan to spend time working both in the office and from home as part of a hybrid work arrangement. Work arrangements could change over time based on business needs. Qualifications Prior litigation or paralegal experience, paralegal degree/certificate/certification, medical training, or relevant coursework or legal studies degree is required 3+ years of civil litigation experience preferred Insurance defense experience preferred Familiarity with Court Rules and Procedures Strong computer skills and experience working in an electronic/digital environment in particular Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Adobe Acrobat Basic legal writing and research skills and knowledge of proper formats and citations Strong interpersonal and communication skills, oral and written Degree or certificate Meets the requirements of Business & Professions Code * 6450 Potential salary range: $60,000-$85,000 (compensation offered will be based on experience) Potential yearly incentive pay up to 15% of base salary (results may vary from year to year) PM22#SFPL #LI-SK2PDN-9bbb4b0d-05cd-4e40-983f-009a265b6ba1
