The Direct Support Professional is responsible for providing compassionate and individualized support to individuals with disabilities, developmental delays, or other special needs. This position involves assisting clients with daily activities, fostering independence, and promoting their overall well-being. The DSP works collaboratively with other team members to create a supportive environment that enhances the quality of life for each individual served. Responsibilities: Assist individuals with personal care tasks, such as bathing, grooming, dressing, and toileting, while promoting dignity and respect. Support clients with household chores, meal preparation, and grocery shopping as needed. Provide transportation to appointments, community outings, and recreational activities, ensuring the safety and comfort of individuals at all times. Engage clients in meaningful social and recreational activities, promoting socialization and community integration. Administer medications according to prescribed schedules and document accurately. Implement behavior support plans and strategies to address challenging behaviors in a positive and constructive manner. Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of services provided, including progress notes, incident reports, and individualized care plans. Communicate effectively with individuals, families, and interdisciplinary team members to ensure coordinated care and consistency in service delivery. Advocate for the rights and preferences of individuals served, promoting self-advocacy and empowerment. Participate in training and professional development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge in the field of developmental disabilities and person-centered care.
