Our Business Insurance department is seeking a Regional Vice President for Commercial Lines to join our growing team in our Houston, TX branch. Position summary: Reporting directly to the Field Regional Executive. The Regional Vice President has operational responsibility to execute all necessary activities to ensure achievement of the corporate goals and objectives in the marketing territories designated by the Field Regional Executive Manages the activities for a branch office including underwriting, marketing, pricing, and agency relationships in a designated territory. Responsible for operating results, development of new business, retention, and agency plant management. Reviews and resolves complex issues Interfaces with appropriate individuals to provide a high level of customer service for claims, loss control, premium audit, policy processing, agency accounting, and bond underwriting functions. Advises regional and corporate management and recommends actions regarding market trends and competitive factors Builds strong relationships with customers and agency, regional, and corporate managers and staff.This is a Full-time, Exempt role. Responsibilities/Essential Functions: Responsible for overall operating results of a branch office. Plans and implements marketing and sales strategies for Commercial Specialty and Personal Lines for assigned territory. Leads implementation and development of branch goals and objectives in assigned marketplace. Manages branch business affairs in accordance with corporate guidelines, and under the direction of the Regional President or operating head. Manages branch budget. Responsible for development of agency plant in order to achieve business goals and improve company results, including appointment of new agents and managing poor performing agencies. Participates in regulatory and legislative affairs for assigned states, including serving on boards and bureaus. Manages performance of subordinate managers within marketing, sales, and underwriting functions. Responsible for development of staff. Acts as consultant and decision-maker on complex underwriting and marketing issues. Coordinates with regional and local managers to provide a high level of operational support and customer service from the company's policy processing, premium audit, loss control, agency accounting, claims, and bond underwriting functions. Participates in the development and implementation of measures and metrics for branch operations to achieve optimum levels of underwriting quality, productivity, efficiency, and customer service. Participates in corporate and regional strategy planning through committees, task forces, and meetings. Facilitates and influences agency and branch officials and staff on new product development and roll-out, technological improvements, and change management. Coordinates activities to obtain marketplace knowledge and advantage, including intelligence on competition, legislative and geographic environment, sales potential and strategic strengths and weaknesses for specified territories and lines of business. Advises management of pertinent information and recommends actions. Builds strong communication links with agency, regional and corporate officials, and staff. Position Requirements: Ten years or more of general property and casualty experience required. Advance degree (BA/MA) preferred. CPCU or CIC designations preferred. Sound technical knowledge of commercial and personal lines insurance business; including different lines of coverage, risk selection, methods, and pricing. Demonstrated evidence of success in managing operations and staff in underwriting and marketing functions within a competitive environment. Thorough understanding of the distribution channels throughout the assigned territory (TX and LA). Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills required.
