Management Consulting Practice Director, Manufacturing and Supply Chain Chicago, IL or Remote with travel as required Role Overview: Voyage Advisory seeks a highly motivated and accomplished management consulting practice leader to lead a “business within our business.” We desire a peak performer with a passion for business, a passion for problem-solving, and a relentless work ethic. The ideal candidate will have over 10 years of experience in management consulting, substantial previous client-facing experience, and industry leadership in manufacturing and supply chain. Willingness to travel up to 50% for client engagements as required is essential. As Practice Director for Manufacturing and Supply Chain, you will be responsible for expanding our consultancy services into these sectors. This strategic role demands leadership prowess, business development savvy, and in-depth industry knowledge. You will be key in crafting solutions that boost operational efficiency, productivity, and customer satisfaction, driving performance through process improvement, encouraging automation, and fostering innovative management practices. Expanding the practice’s revenue, steering client engagements, and leading a dynamic team of consultants, and enhancing organizational customer service capabilities will be central to your role. Key Responsibilities: Business Development: Capitalize on leads from our other sales efforts, leverage your network to forge new opportunities for the firm. Lead the business development efforts including project plans, proposals, and statements of work for prospective client engagements, presenting these to clients. Engage with existing clients to identify new opportunities and to secure additional work. Client Delivery and Oversight: Oversee client projects to ensure our work surpasses expectations, fulfills contractual obligations, meets our revenue and profitability targets, and that we retain our knowledge for future projects. Aid organizations in optimizing their operational staffing and embracing technology, assisting clients in choosing and implementing the right technology solutions to meet their business needs. Team Leadership: Guide and mentor a team of consultants, instill our cultural values, and maintain delivery excellence. Support recruiting efforts within the organization. Solution Development: Define the strategy, growth plans and service offerings of the Manufacturing and Supply Chain practice, focusing on specific market sub-segments and developing attractive market offerings. Required Skills and Background: A bachelor’s degree in engineering, business, management, or a related field; a master’s degree is preferred. A minimum of 10 years of substantive experience in management consulting, with a proven history of delivering impactful solutions to clients. Demonstrated capability to lead and expand a multimillion-dollar management consulting portfolio, including opportunity identification, sales pipeline forecasting, proposal writing, statement of work composition, client presentations, and deal closures. Proven industry experience in manufacturing and supply chain, ideally having worked in leadership roles at manufacturing companies. Outstanding business acumen and strategic insight, skilled at recognizing and seizing market opportunities. Superior communication, presentation, and interpersonal abilities, able to engage and persuade stakeholders at all echelons. A focused mindset on results, aiming to drive client value, meet business goals, and surpass performance benchmarks. Professional certifications such as PMP and Six Sigma are beneficial.
