Jerome Village Community Center located in Plain City, OH is seeking a dedicated and experienced part-time Assistant Swim Coaches to help lead our school-aged swim team. The ideal candidate will be passionate about coaching, possess strong leadership skills, and have a background in competitive swimming. This position has an expected starting date of May 1, 2024 at the hourly rate of $15.00. Job Summary: Responsible for attending daily practices, attending swim league board meetings, creating and facilitating workouts for swimmers, developing competitive and recreational swimmers, and maintaining swimmer safety. Essential Functions: Assist with Practice Planning: Collaborate with the Head Coach to develop and execute effective swim team practices, focusing on skill enhancement, technique refinement, and overall fitness. Support Athlete Development: Provide assistance and encouragement to swimmers in improving their individual and team performance. Assist with Skill Assessment: Aid in evaluating swimmers' abilities and provide feedback for continuous improvement. Team Support: Assist in managing various aspects of the swim team, including assisting with roster management, tracking attendance, and helping coordinate team events. Communication: Maintain open lines of communication with swimmers, parents, and fellow coaching staff to ensure everyone is informed about team activities, schedules, and any updates. Safety Oversight: Help ensure a safe and secure environment during practices and events by following and enforcing safety protocols and emergency procedures. Promote Motivation and Team Spirit: Contribute to fostering a positive and motivating atmosphere to enhance team spirit and sportsmanship. Assist with Meet Participation: Support the coordination and attendance of swim meets, providing coaching assistance during competitions as needed. Professional Development: Stay updated on current coaching techniques, training methods, and safety standards in competitive swimming. Schedule: N.E.W. League Summer Swim Season: First Meet is June 5 th 2024 and Champs is Monday, July 15 th . Practices: Monday-Friday mornings (before 11 AM) Meets: Wednesday nights starting at 5 PM Physical Requirements: The physical requirements necessary for an associate to successfully perform the essential functions of the position are outlined below. Reasonable accommodations can be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the described essential functions of the position. Associate must be able to work on feet for up to 8 hours a day. Associate must be able to sit in the same position for up to 8 hours a day consecutively. Associate may have to stand walk, reach with arms and hands, climb or balance, and to stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. Associate is often required to sit and use his or her hands and fingers, to handle or feel. Associate may have to lift up to 50 pounds. Vision abilities required by this job include close vision. Associate must talk and hear. Qualifications, Education, Experience, Skills, and Abilities: Previous coaching experience, preferably with a focus on school-aged swimmers. Certified swim Coach (e.g. ASCA Level 1 or higher) is a plus. Familiarity with League Management Apps and Software is a plus. Familiarity with Meet Management Apps and Software is a plus. Strong understanding of swim techniques, training principles, and competitive swimming rules. Prior experience working in customer service is a plus. English language and excellent communications skills and interpersonal skills are required. Ability to take direction, motivate, and inspire. Must have problem solving abilities, be self-motivated and organized. CPR/AED and First Aid certified is required.
