Course Description: Follows on HIS338H1. Themes include: resistance by Jews and non-Jews; local collaboration; the roles of European governments, the Allies, the churches, and other international organizations; the varieties of Jewish responses. We will also focus on postwar repercussions of the Holocaust in areas such as justice, memory and memorialization, popular culture and politics. Tentative Course Requirements: analysis of a primary source, term project, a mid-term test, and a final examination. TA Support: Yes Estimated Enrolment: 96 Class Schedule: Friday 10:00-12:00 Sessional dates of appointment: January 1, 2024 - April 30, 2024 Salary: Sessional Lecturer I: $9,457.88 Sessional Lecturer I, Long Term: $9,930.79 Sessional Lecturer II: $10,121.75 Sessional Lecturer II, Long Term: $10,326.61 Sessional Lecturer III: $10,362.76 Sessional Lecturer III: Long Term: $10,570.01 Please note that should rates stipulated in the collective agreement vary from rates stated in this posting, the rates stated in the collective agreement shall prevail. Minimum Qualifications: Master of Arts in History or related field required. Mastery of the subject area as related to the course description above required. Teaching experience at the university level required. Preferred qualifications: Ph. D. in History preferred. Demonstrated evidence of superior undergraduate teaching preferred. Previous experience teaching a similar course is highly desirable. Description of duties: Course preparation, lecturing, and marking. There will be 24 hours of lectures in this course and one office hour per teaching week.
