Flynn Canada Ltd. is currently recruiting skilled Glaziers (commercial) to fill 5 F/T vacancies in British Columbia, working out of our branches Victoria (Unit 1 6836 Kirkpatrick Cres, Saanichton, in Vancouver (19175 22nd Avenue, Surrey, British Columbia, V3S 3S6) and Kelowna ( Unit #D -1 8775 Jim Bailey Crescent, Kelowna, BC, V4V 2L7). Other locations across British Columbia will be required based on awarded projects. The position of “Glazier” is a skilled trade role, in which the Glazier works within a team, reporting to the Site Foreman to glass and glazing products in commercial, industrial and institutional structures. Responsibilities include: • Read and interpret blueprints and specifications to determine type and thickness of glass, frame, installation procedure and materials required • Measure and mark glass and cut glass using glass cutters or computerized cutter • Assemble and install prefabricated glass, mirrors or glass products on walls, ceilings or exteriors of building • Install, fit, fabricate and attach architectural metals or related substitute products in industrial, institutional and commercial buildings • Providing training to more junior level, less experienced workers Qualifications: • Minimum 4 years' glazing (commercial) experience OR completion of a three- to four-year apprenticeship program OR Journeyman/woman certificate OR Journeyman/woman certificate equivalent • Intermediate English or French skills Skills and Knowledge: • Ability to work and communicate with others • Ability to instruct apprentices and new workers • Ability to work at heights • Ability to learn and obey our extensive company safety policy Terms of Employment: • Permanent full time at 30-40 hours a week. • Overtime at the rate of 1.5x after 8 hours a day and 40 hours a week. Double time after 12 hours a day; • $31.00 - $39.00 per hour, depending on qualifications (starting wage for meeting minimum requirements is $31.00, wage scale increases.
