This McIntosh CD player was sent to a technician with 40+ years experience to review. Here are his comments:It powers up with no problem. The unit is operational, motor works fine. The sound does not come on. Using his years of experience he took a blow dryer (really he did) and heated the chip and crystal that can be seen in the last picture, and the CD player started playing, there was sound. He demonstrated this for me. Unbelievable. The functions work, FF, REV, Pause, Repeat, etc. The remote control appears to be unused. It works fine, no issues detected. Once it was started it would play until he turned it off. Also if played and turned off and then back on it would play. When it would be turned off and sit, he had to use the hair dryer. The chip, SAA7000 and crystal, 04561.539 he feels should be replaced and that should take care of the problem. No guarantees. There you have it. Thank you for looking.
