Adopt Sage a White Domestic Shorthair / Mixed cat in Washington, DC (38665253)

Location:
Washington, DC
Description:

Female, DSH, approx. 1 year, DSH Attributes: friendly, lapcat, snuggly, talkative, good with other cats Add some aromatics to your life with adorable, adoptable Sage! Sage is a kitten with a huge personality and is the cuddliest of cuddle bugs. Wherever you sit, and whatever you're doing, she will climb onto you as close to your face as she can! She loves to receive pets and she'll let you know how she feels with her powerful meows. Sage will sit on you no matter what or how she might fit. Sage is one of the rare cats who doesn't leave when you move because she wants to stay close to you. Although Sage is shy at first, she opens up very quickly. She likes to have a place to hide when you first meet, especially under a low counter where other cats might not fit. Once she's comfortable in a new environment, Sage loves to meet new friends -- cats and humans alike. She will make sure they give her their full attention. Sage has been in a home with two other cats with very different personalities. She loves to play with them and cuddle nearby. She also establishes her boundaries, especially when she's scared, with a gentle hiss followed by keeping her own space. She is very food motivated and will take every opportunity to eat. She practically screams for food at meal times! However, she is not food aggressive and is happy to share, she just eats very quickly and intensely. Sage will be sure to greet you and tell you how much she missed you after you get home with lots of meows, no matter how long you were gone! Sage's funniest quality is that she is scared of her own tail sometimes. Every once in a while, she doesn't recognize her tail as her own, and might very suddenly growl at it or run around to try to get away from it. When she starts to get scared, she benefits from some verbal reassurance and pets on her head, but doesn't like to be pet on her tail! Sage would be a wonderful addition to any household with other playful, gentle cats! Don't wait, apply to adopt Sage today! _________________________ If you are interested in meeting a dog or cat, we require an adoption application. If the animal has "HAS APPLICATION" listed, they are still available to receive additional applications but also may be in the process of being adopted soon. Apply for a CAT: https://www.citydogsrescuedc.org/adoptable-cats.html City Dogs & City Kitties Rescue is a foster-based rescue in Washington, DC. We do not have a shelter. CDCK has a thorough adoption process to find the best possible fit for each of our dogs and cats. Upon accepting a new cat or dog into the organization, we provide a basic vet visit that includes necessary vaccinations, disease screenings, deworming, microchips, and spay/neuter for dogs six months and older. We do not provide a comprehensive medical exam before adoption. As a result, sickness, injury, and disability may exist unbeknownst to CDCK. City Dogs & City Kitties Rescue is not responsible for payment of any vet care, including known and unknown medical conditions once a cat or dog is adopted from us. Cat specific vetting: Rabies, FVRCP. Cats are tested for FIV and FeLV, when age appropriate, but not when born to a FELV/FIV negative mother in foster care. Kittens have age-appropriate vetting to date, which includes deworming, microchip, and the first FVRCP vaccine. Kittens born in care to a negative mother will not receive a FIV/FeLV test. An adopter will need to agree to cover costs of spay/neuter when he/she is age-appropriate (usually 16-20 weeks) and will need to continue his/her kitten vaccines (including rabies) as he/she grows older. Kittens under 12 weeks of age must be adopted in pairs or to a home with friendly resident feline. They will not be considered as singles.
