#### Mascot is a very handsome 2 year old Lhasa Apso. He weighs 26 pounds. Mascot loves his doggie friends and relies on them for safety. He likes all dogs at our shelter that he has met, but he especially relies on his brother, Kirby, so much for confidence that we want to keep them together as a bonded pair. He and Kirby need a safely fenced yard with a 4 foot high fence. He does not walk on a leash yet but once he starts feeling more comfortable in his own yard, his people can start walking him in the yard with his sibling.More confident dogs are helping him learn that people are not as scary as he believes. Right now he is not wanting to be touched and he isn't taking treats given to him. He often hides from people and is squirmy when being brought in or out to the play yards. Extra care will be needed when carrying him. He needs a quiet, patient and predictable home environment. He is sound sensitive and a flight risk so he needs an adult only home. Our behavior team will help potential adopters learn about this special boy and how to help him adjust to his new home. As a result, there is often an adjustment period when learning about life as a family pet. We typically do not adopt to homes with young children. Homes with older children will be considered on an individual basis. Common skills such as house training and leash walking will often take extra time. Patience, understanding and a gentle hand are a must. The great news is, many of these dogs come around with patience and being a part of their rehabilitation is an extremely rewarding experience.
