Description Specialization: Surgery Trauma Job Summary: Grand Strand Medical Center is seeking a Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner for their Level I Trauma Center and Acute Care Surgical unit in Myrtle Beach, SC Qualified Candidates: Graduation from an accredited school with successful completion of an approved PA or NP program Licensed Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner in the state of South Carolina BCLS, ACLS, ATCN, & TNCC required Two to five years of current experience preferred in specialty area of trauma and/or surgery Great interpersonal and communication skills Demonstrates clinical expertise, leadership, and teaching in patient care Primary responsibility will be to provide direct patient care to trauma/acute care surgical patients throughout the hospital course of treatment and post discharge follow up, in accordance with the statutory limitations established for specialty Will be expected to perform most job duties independently and in accordance with established specialty guidelines, departmental and hospital policies and procedures under general guidance and direction by surgeons and department director Shift coverage will include a range of 5:30 AM -12 midnight and range from 8 hour to 12 hour shifts with no overnight call Work in the clinic, in the ICU, and on the floor supporting the service Will be integral member of the health care team and participate in all clinical, educational, and quality improvement activities of Trauma/Surgical Services Incentive/Benefits Package: Employed position with HCA Competitive salary commensurate with experience Comprehensive benefits including health, dental, and vision insurance, 401k with match, PTO, and more About GSMC Trauma Center: Home to one of six Level I adult trauma centers in South Carolina and the only Level II pediatric trauma center in Horry and Georgetown Counties; 24/7 in-house coverage for Trauma and all emergency surgery for our facility Acute Care Surgery team provides the full range of care to patients who are critically ill with acute surgical emergencies, shock, severe sepsis, respiratory failure, and advanced multi-organ failure, in addition to providing the critical care coverage for our Surgical/Trauma Intensive Care Unit Provide the full range of patient care services for both adult and pediatric trauma patients Trauma surgeons treated over 3,600 injured patients in 2020. Currently in active development is the initiative to have all of our ACS surgeons trained in robotic surgery Three dedicated trauma rooms with a helipad adjacent to the emergency department and one dedicated Trauma operating room Currently have six critical care surgeons and seven advanced practice providers We also have the privilege of training general surgery residents and participating in trauma research and outreach. Our goal is to develop a patient-centered program that will address the needs of each patient but which will also enable us to address these larger issues and improve the results for all our acute care patients About Grand Strand Medical Center: 403 bed tertiary referral center Largest and most clinically advanced hospital in the area ACS verified Level I adult trauma center DHEC approved Level II pediatric trauma center 4 emergency departments Pediatric ER DNV-GL certified comprehensive stroke center Accredited Chest Pain Center with PCI Only provider of open-heart surgery in the area Inpatient and outpatient behavioral health unit Inpatient rehabilitation unit Maternity center with Level II neonatal nursery and maternal fetal medicine for high-risk moms ACGME accredited residency programs with six residences (Internal Medicine, Family Medicine, General Surgery, Anesthesia, Emergency Medicine, and a Transitional Program) and two fellowships (Hospice and Palliative Medicine and coming soon, Endocrinology) Located in Myrtle Beach, in the heart of the "Grand Strand," the 60-mile stretch of coastline is considered one of the fastest growing metropolitan areas in the US.
