Hi, my name is Mielle, though my foster mom calls me Mama or Missy. I am a doxy mix born approximately 2/20/22. I came to Minnesota all the way from Tijuana. I wasn’t too sure about the cold and snow but I like it better now that it’s getting warmer. My foster mom doesn’t know if I was a stray or in a shelter in Tijuana but she thinks possibly a stray. I’m pretty timid around new people. It takes me A LOT of time to adjust to new surroundings and people. I live with my foster brother who leaves me alone. I’ve tried playing with him but get shy when he joins. I prefer to be in my kennel with a couple of toys and my blanket. My foster mom keeps the door open during the day so I can come and go as I please. I’ve been exploring her house more and more each day. I have a strong flight response and will try to escape the backyard, so my foster mom keeps me on a leash while I do my business. She’s really good with following me around the yard as I explore all the new scents. She will have to carry me from my kennel to the back door to go outside. I’m ok once we’re outside though. I sleep through the night in my kennel without any accidents. I wouldn’t say I’m completely house trained as my foster mom has me on a strict schedule of when we go outside to do my business, although I’d say I have a shy bladder as well and like to hold it until we’re outside anyway. The perfect family for me would be patient with me as I learn my boundaries and what they expect from me. They would love me and give me lots of pets and treats, or let me have my alone time when I need it. I’m good with smaller dogs. I have not been tested around bigger pups, or cats, whatever they are. Adoption fee includes: Full veterinary exam, Alter, Prepaid microchip, Dewormed, Rabies vaccine (if age appropriate), Distemper combo vaccine(s) appropriate to age, Bordetella vaccine, 4DX (over 6 months of age), Flea/tick and heartworm preventative while in rescue.
