Our referral-based program, The Hummingbird Project, seeks to enrich the lives of older adults through personalized, one-on-one connections. Ideal candidates include those with experience as activity directors, recreation therapists, teaching artists, or creative arts therapists.Since our establishment, we've dedicated ourselves to enhancing the well-being of older adults through innovative solutions and compassionate care. Our interdisciplinary team is committed to delivering exceptional care and support, and we're looking for someone with your unique skills to contribute to our mission. What We Want: We seek an Activity Specialist to develop and implement therapeutic activities that improve the quality of life for our clients. This role is perfect for individuals with a background in art, drama, music, expressive arts, or recreation therapy and a deep commitment to working with the elderly. What You’ll Do: Design and execute various therapeutic activities tailored to individual client needs, enhancing their quality of life. Plan and lead one-on-one sessions with clients in their residences and conduct group programs in facilities. Organize and facilitate art-based group activities in assisted living facilities. Maintain regular contact with clients and care providers, supplying materials and support for life enrichment activities. Who You Are: A bachelor’s degree is required; a master’s degree or significant experience in art, drama, music, expressive arts, or recreation therapy is preferred. At least two (2) years of experience working with older adults, including those with cognitive changes and dementia. Empathetic and compassionate with a creative approach to developing individualized activity plans. Proficient in holistic quality of life, life enrichment, and engagement practices. Exceptional interpersonal skills with the ability to engage and comfort a diverse range of individuals. Excellent written communication skills and time management abilities. Experienced with G-Suite and video communication platforms like Zoom, FaceTime, and Google Hangouts. A valid California driver’s license, vehicle insurance, and reliable transportation are required.
