Where You Belong.Job SummaryAt Canterwood Golf and Country Club, lifeguards are vital to ensuring the safety of our members, their families, and guests while they use our aquatics facilities. Lifeguards are responsible for assisting in the support and enforcement of rules and regulations of the club while also ensuring excellent patron service.Pay Rate: $17-20 per hour D.O.E.Day-to-Day * Supervise and provide surveillance of swimmers and guests during operational hours and special events. * Practice preventative lifeguarding by scanning pool area to detect safety concerns * Conduct onesself in a professional manner; understand and relate to guests while they use the pools. * Effectively communicate with children, parents/guardians, and the public. Quickly and efficiently respond to member questions, comments, and concerns. * Respond to emergency situations in assigned zone(s); administer and coordinate emergency first aid as necessary. * Patrol pool areas to maintain cleanliness of the facility and equipment. Perform daily maintenance duties such as setting up for daily operations and facility cleanup at the end of the day. * Test pool environment for proper chemical levels and other environmental measures. * Advise aquatics management of unsafe and/or unsanitary conditions. About You * Must be at least 16 years of age. * High school diploma (or working towards a high school diploma) or GED (or working towards a GED). * Some related work experience with pool operations preferred. * Current American Red Cross Lifeguard certification (inluding CPR/AED and First Aid) OR the ability to attend our in-house lifeguard certification course. * Knowledge of how to prevent accidents and how to react if there is an accident. * Excellent communication skills with both children and adults. * Ability to swim for long distances (minimum of 300 yards continuously) with great strength. * Capable of prolonged exposure to outdoor conditions during the summer. * Ability to sit or stand for extended periods of time. * Successful completion of our criminal background check.
