Job Description: The Department of English at Siena College seeks to hire an adjunct instructor to teach twosections of WRIT 220: Rhetoric & Oral Communication, with additional opportunities to teach ENGL 101: Introduction to Literature as needed. The appointment begins 9/1/2024.WRIT 220: Rhetoric & Oral Communication. This course is designed to help students determine the most effective strategies and arrangements for persuasive written and oral communication. Introducing students to basic theories and concepts about communication, this course explores how verbal and nonverbal communication operates in public and private settings. Students develop skills in active listening, public speaking, oral interpretation, providing feedback, and rhetorical critique. This course will help students gain more confidence and fluency in communicating their ideas persuasively.ENGL 101: Introduction to Literature. This course offers students practice in critical thinking, reading, responding to, and analyzing a wide variety of literature. Because the course is writing intensive, students will gain experience in writing and revising critical essays about literature. Readings will include literature from diverse classic and contemporary authors, as well as various literary genres.For further information about the Department of English, please visit our website at https://www.siena.edu/departments/english/ Salary $1,250.00 per contact hour The hiring salary above represent the College's good faith estimate at the time of posting in compliance with the Albany County Salary Transparency Law. Requirements: The ideal candidate will have a Ph.D. in English, Rhetoric & Composition, or a related field. The ideal candidate will have prior college-level teaching experience and exhibit a commitment to undergraduate liberal arts education. Candidates with an M.A. degree will also be considered.
