Morgan, Lewis & Bockius LLP, one of the world's leading global law firms with offices in strategic hubs of commerce, law, and government across North America, Asia, Europe, and the Middle East, is seeking to hire a Business Development Manager, Client Relations.The Business Development Manager, Client Relations provides strategic account management to leverage and maximize client relationships created through Preferred Provider Panel ("PPP") appointments and similar client-specific arrangements.Working collaboratively with all levels of staff and lawyers firmwide across practices and departments, the Business Development Manager, Client Relations is responsible for managing the entire lifecycle of the firm's PPP, including but not limited to evaluating the opportunity to pitch for (or renew) placement on a PPP and working with the Director, Pitches and Proposals throughout the procurement process. If awarded a position on the panel, the Business Development Manager, Client Relations is responsible for proactively identifying opportunities to maximize the value afforded by the firm's position on the panel, including identifying ways to make the relationship more profitable, collaborating with practices and markets to take advantage of opportunities in all areas and geographies covered by the appointment, identifying strategic ways to expand the scope of coverage of the preferred provider agreement, and enhancing the value of the client relationship. It also includes reviewing our performance on the PPP and making recommendations on which panels to renew and how performance of those panels can be improved.The ideal candidate brings exceptional organizational skills and a blend of project leadership and executive communication to the role, along with the ability to act with a high degree of integrity and maintain discretion when dealing with confidential information.This position will reside in our Boston, Chicago, Houston, New York, Philadelphia, Orange County (Costa Mesa, CA), San Francisco, or Washington, DC office and offers a flexible hybrid working arrangement. Key responsibilities: Collaborates with professional staff and lawyers to identify opportunities to expand client relationships and supports business development planning and execution in relation to panel appointments.Effectively organizes information, gathers resources, and manages multiple projects.Generates high-quality work products in multiple formats (e.g., presentation slides, Excel project plans, Word documents).Collaborates with cross-functional teams to accomplish multiple assignments and deliverables on an ongoing basis under very tight deadlines.Supports the full lifecycle of projects from inception to completion.Creates and maintains tracking and reporting tools as necessary (e.g., spreadsheets, dashboards, databases, and reports).Communicates effectively with all levels of partners, staff, and firm management. Experience and qualifications: Bachelor's degree, and seven (7) years of progressively responsible related experience with at least five (5) years of experience managing mid- to large-scale projects; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.Law firm or other professional services experience with account management or client development is preferred.Experience excelling in a highly matrixed work environment with ability to work across multiple business units and functional teams.Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build relationships with a wide range of individuals with differing opinions and diverse personalities.Excellent written and oral communication skills and effective presentation skills.Results oriented with time-management and organizational skills to prioritize work and handle multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced, constantly evolving environment.Ability to take initiative, anticipate needs, and exercise independent, sound judgment to influence decision-making and effectively interface with executive management.Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; proactive self-starter; strategic thinker.Discretion in dealing with confidential information. The final salary or hourly wages offered may be outside of this range based on other reasons and individual circumstances. Additionally, salary or hourly wages may be only part of the total compensation package. The total compensation package for this position may also include a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as vacation, sick time, and parental leave), dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.
