THOR Solutions is actively seeking a Senior Photographer/Videographer to support an upcoming program at the Naval Undersea Warfare Center Division Newport (NUWCDIVNPT) in Middletown, RI . In this role, the candidate will provide scientific and technical photographic, video, and digital imaging services in a variety of formats. An ideal candidate will have prior photography/videography experience in a U.S. Navy/DoD environment.Specific responsibilities may include (but are not limited to): Provide scientific and technical photographic, video, and digital imaging services in a variety of formats and using both PC and Macintosh video suites, to include: Studio, location, copy, aerial, and Research, Development, Test & Evaluation photography; Still camera, motion picture and video documentation; High-speed film; Photojournalism; Video editing and duplication; Printing functions; and Digital imaging services. Deliver a conceptual plan to achieve technical photographic effects. Deliver recommendations regarding modifications or improvements to requests for photography and imaging services based on knowledge of the potential and limits of the equipment. Deliver software-enhanced digital images including alter secondary photographic features such as scenes, backgrounds, colors, and lighting. Operate state-of-the-art digital imaging equipment including ultra-high speed, motion picture production, specialized still and graphic cameras, electronic timing and triggering devices. Deliver technical recommendations to: Develop and adapt photographic equipment or processes to meet new and unprecedented situations, including working with engineers and physicists to develop and modify equipment for use in extreme conditions such as excessive heat or cold, radiation, high altitude, under water, wind and pressure tunnels, or explosions; Plan and organize the overall technical photographic coverage for a variety of events and developments in phases of a scientific, industrial, medical, or research project; and Create desired illusions or emotional effects by developing trick or special effects photography for novel situations requiring a high degree of ingenuity and imaginative camera work to heighten, simulate, or alter the photographic record of reality. Provide photography and videography services on U.S. Navy ships and submarines. Deliver images and videos of captured footage on said ships and submarines for Government review and acceptance. Operate and maintain professional digital still cameras and video cameras capable of standard, high-definition and high speed video. Employ professional and available lighting techniques to ensure that the final product meets the Governments requirements. Operate video editing equipment. Security Clearance Requirements: This position requires a DoD Secret security clearance. A qualified candidate will: Already possess an active or interim Secret (or above) clearance (preferred); OR, be able to qualify for a new Secret clearance upon hire. Required Education, Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities: Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree (e.g., BA, BFA, AA) in photography, videography, or another relevant discipline from an accredited institution. In lieu of the above, a degree in a different discipline, a lesser degree, or a relevant certification may be considered in combination with additional relevant experience. At least five (5) years of recent, relevant professional experience in photography and video. Ideal experience will include: Planning, filming, editing and sound mixing, graphic design, and compression output of a wide range of products that support the target audience. Operating and maintaining a variety of analog and digital video, still cameras and video editing equipment and related systems and software. Meeting deadlines and managing multiple priorities. Creatively planning and translating abstract concepts into effective visual form. Experience obtained in a U.S. Navy/DoD environment is highly preferred. Strong proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite video editing software. Proficiency with common productivity software including MS Office. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Anticipated Travel: This position may include up to 20% travel, to locations in CT, FL, GA, NY, VA, WA, and the Bahamas.
