Practice Area: Patent Agents - Biotechnology,Patent Agents - Cellular Technology,Patent Agents - Molecular Biology, Job Type: Attorney, Firm Type: Law Firm, Experience: 2 Years, A law firm in Philadelphia is seeking a Patent Agent with a background in molecular biology to join its Intellectual Property and Technology Practice Group, specifically the Patent Development and Strategy Subgroup. The ideal candidate should have 2-5 years of experience, strong academic credentials from nationally recognized schools, and prior experience in a large or mid-sized law firm. Preference will be given to candidates with registration with the USPTO and an advanced degree, preferably a Ph.D., in molecular and cellular biology or similar disciplines. Experience in litigation, opinions, licensing, patent due diligence, and/or trademarks is preferred. Duties:Conducting patentability and freedom-to-operate searches and analysesDrafting and prosecuting patent applications related to molecular biology inventionsProviding technical and legal support for patent litigation mattersConducting IP due diligence for corporate transactionsAdvising clients on patent strategy and portfolio managementCollaborating with attorneys and clients to develop patent strategies aligned with business goalsReviewing and analyzing patent-related documents and prior art Requirements:Bachelor's degree in molecular biology or a related fieldRegistration with the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO)2-5 years of experience in patent prosecution and/or patent-related mattersStrong academic background from nationally recognized schoolsPrior experience in a large or mid-sized law firm is preferredAdvanced degree, preferably a Ph.D., in molecular and cellular biology or similar disciplines (excluding chemistry, medical device, or pharmaceutical sciences)Background in life sciences, particularly biotechnology Education:Bachelor's degree in molecular biology or a related fieldAdvanced degree, preferably a Ph.D., in molecular and cellular biology or similar disciplines Certifications:Registration with the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) Skills:Proficiency in conducting patentability and freedom-to-operate searchesExcellent drafting and communication skillsStrong analytical and problem-solving abilitiesAbility to work independently and collaboratively within a teamFamiliarity with patent litigation, opinions, licensing, and trademark mattersKnowledge of patent laws and regulationsAttention to detail and accuracy in reviewing patent-related documents Benefits Offered:Medical/dental/vision insurance401(k) retirement planAdditional benefits may vary and will be discussed during the interview process.
