Senior dogs receive extra bloodwork and we try to do dental cleanings on any dogs that need them. Most of the dogs in our care are crate-trained and cat tested. We test with kids when we can. Our process can seem involved and long - we appreciate your patience. Adopting a dog is not like buying a candy bar in the checkout lane; it should never be a last-minute decision or one that is not fully thought out. Hello world! My name is Valentino and I am a bouncy, bubbly, bewitching Beagle baby. Like Rudolph Valentino, the Silent movie star, for whom I am named, I am dapper and unusually silent. But I have a big personality and easily make my needs known, be it playing or wanting to be fed. Good news! I am reliably housebroken and walk well on a leash on the return trip. In the beginning I pull a lot, but settle down after about 10 minutes. Typical of my breed, I am bold and spunky and love to escape on adventurous sniffaris. So, my home must have a VERY securely fenced backyard and I need to be on strong harnesses that I cannot get out of. Oh, by the way, I am also very fast and agile so I will not be a good fit for people with mobility issues. I bonded very quickly with my foster mom and furbrother. Of course I would! Rudolph Valentino was called the Latin Lover. I am a Universal lover – I love people, other dogs, cats (yes, cats too!). I am a great cuddler and lap dog. If you have a free lap, you can be guaranteed that I will boldly come to take my spot there. In fact, I have no sense of personal space as I try to sit on my foster mama’s shoulders, especially when she is teaching on Zoom, and her head if she is leaning against a headboard or sofa. I only have two arch enemies – squirrels and blankets. I LOVE to take blankets off of my foster mom’s bed or my own bed and shred them to pieces; this despite being given lots of squeaky toys, balls and chew sticks. I am in excellent health and am a very healthy eater despite my stick-thin body. That may be because I was found as a stray. Now, even though I am fed regularly and given 4-course meals, I devour it all. Surprisingly, I love kibble (Hill’s Science Diet) over soft treats or jerky treats. I do have a kong ball stuffed to the top with canned food (Canidae Grain Free Duck and Turkey). But my gourmet cuisine of choice is my own production. Sadly, my foster mama does not approve of this culinary taste of mine and recommends someone stand right behind and clean up after me. And, why not? I am a prince after all! In addition to my princely charms, you’ll also be the beneficiary of my comic skills. In fact, I keep my mama laughing all the time with my antics. Currently, I live with one other dog and fight him to get the attention of my foster mom. But I do not need to be someone’s only furkid. I would LOVE a young playmate and would thrive as someone’s spoiled little prince. Like what you see? Fill out our online application!
