Hello, my name is Rocco and I am a 7 year old pittie mix. I’m a nice, medium size at 56 lbs, and I'm a handsome, brindle color. I found myself in rescue after my beloved owner passed away. His family moved me around to a few temporary homes before surrendering me to animal control. After 3 weeks there, TAR came and rescued me. Despite all I’ve been through in the last few months, I am a happy and loving guy. I love humans, and craving human attention is one of my most endearing qualities. Whoever said dogs don’t like hugs never met me. I love to snuggle on the couch with my chin in your lap or even on your chest. Whether it's snuggling on the couch, getting belly rubs, enjoying brisk walks together, or simply having a heart-to-heart conversation (I’m a great listener!!), I'll be your most loyal and loving companion. I am very friendly to humans and greet every person I meet on a walk with a wagging tail. While I have a real affinity for older people, I also like kids. My current foster home has teens, and I am great with them. One of my temporary homes had an 11 year old, and we really hit it off! I’ve had some gentle and friendly interactions with kids as young as 4. I just love ALL humans. I am great with other dogs, especially with dogs who are similar in size. My foster home has three other dogs and I’m good with all of them. When other dogs bark at me through a fence or across the street during a walk, I don’t bark back. I'm house trained and I will give out little whines and nudge you or even act playful if I have to go outside. I walk nicely on a leash most of the time. I’m super smart!! I also know the verbal and hand commands for sit, stay, and lay down. I also can give a paw. I find delight in the little things, like sniffing fascinating scents during our walks and savoring tasty treats. Treats not only make my tummy happy, but they also serve as a reward in our journey together. I take treats SO gently! Although I'm generally not very into toys, I do like the Nylabone and the Kong at my foster house. I'm a quiet boy in the house, but when I do bark, that bark is Loud! So, I’m a good deterrent, but shared-wall living like an apartment or condo is not for me. Due to my breed and my loud bark, a single-family home is best for me. A fenced yard would be ideal, though a run in a protected yard could also work. I'm patiently waiting for my chance to be your beloved companion. If you're looking for a middle-aged guy who craves love, enjoys the company of others, and appreciates the simple pleasures in life, then look no further. When we meet, I promise that I will greet you with a wagging tail, and I may roll over for belly rubs, and I will probably give you some kisses.
