MEET DEXTER!Dexter has been in rescue for just over a year now. He was pulled from a hoarding situation in Ohio and had no idea what human touch was or how to be a dog. He has made so much progress and still has a little ways to go but he is to the point where he is ready to start looking for his forever home! Dexter is a cattle dog mix and is estimated to be around 3 years old. He is potty trained and crate trained. His crate is his safe space when he gets scared. He does do a bit of marking when first introduced to a new environment or dog. Dexter is GREAT with other dogs. He follows their lead and warms up to them immediately. He plays with other dogs and he cuddles with them as well. Dexter is also completely fine with cats. He has not been around kids in his foster home but we see no indication that he wouldn’t be just fine with kids other than if they move too faster they could scare him. Dexter will need plenty of time to settle in to his forever home. He warms up to women much faster than men. Dexter is a homebody and prefers to not have to leave the house unless he needs to go to the vet. He does require a secure fenced in yard as he hates being restrained by a leash and collar. He also is still working through some skin issues and needs a medicated bath once a week. Dexter is neutered, microchipped, heartworm negative, on heartworm prevention and is up to date on rabies and DHLPP. He is ready for his adoptive home now!
