Who Are We: The New Orleans JCC is a state-of-the-art fitness center and pool, a leader in New Orleans early childhood education, a fun-filled summer day camp and so much more. It is a place for adults to take an exercise class, an art class or dance class. A place for children and teens to experience learning through enrichment classes, sports leagues, family activities, and summer camps. The JCC is built on Jewish values, but is welcome to everyone.The mission of the New Orleans Jewish Community Center is to promote and ensure the well-being of our Jewish community and to instill an understanding of Judaism and its heritage by providing a Center where all can enjoy, learn, experience and share in quality activities in a Jewish environment. Our Step Aerobics Class Instructors are responsible for guiding participants in safe exercises as well as helping our members achieve their fitness goals. They are also responsible for creating a fun and inviting class environment. We are looking for someone to bring energy and excitement. Be able to conduct a beginners or advance step class. What You'll Do: Broad range of experience, including working with seniors and athletes. Able to create comprehensive training programs built around clients' individual needs and goals. Strong awareness of anatomy and biomechanics. Maintains logs of class attendance for classes taught. Teaches classes in a fun safe and challenging manner. Classes must be designed to provide an effective exercise program in an entertaining manner. Inspects the studio to insure lighting, temperature, sound system and equipment are all in top working condition. Reports problems and takes appropriate action. Monitor’s participants throughout the class. Take attendance at the beginning of class. Instructs class to the ability level of the participants. Greets all participants and orients new participants. Instructs class according to standards as well as starts and finishes class on time. Must be high energy, charismatic and able to entertain a crowd. What You'll Bring: Current group exercise instructor certification from ACE, AFAA/NASM, ACSM, NETA, NCCPT, or other NCCA nationally accredited specialty class certification required. Adult/child/infant CPR/AED and First Aid certifications from American Heart Association, American Red Cross or American Safety & Health Institute or willing to obtain. Prior experience teaching group exercise classes preferred. Knowledge of safe exercise technique and principles. Experience working with participants with different ages, skill levels, and varying physical and emotional abilities. Benefits: Free Complimentary Fitness Membership Work Schedule: Days.
