Its small bore and 7 1/2 upright bell design produces a great deal sound for its size and is equipped with 3 top action valves with stainless steel pistons.I would recommend this instrument for other trumpet players as a second instrument or start instrument for young child it is a excellent value for the money. If you are familiar with the trumpet this is a great deal. The sound is excellant, crisp, yet wit a pleasing sound quality that make this a good solo instrument, or a good addition to a small ensemble. This horn is best for marching, lacking the mellow sound of the french horn, but in the identical key. This one E-flat, the trumpet is B-flat, and best of all, the fingerings are identical.Transpose as needed, and ENJOY!Sounds beautiful, valves were pretty sticky when I got them though.
