Ricki is a handsome 20-year-old cockatoo looking for a forever home. He is missing toes on his left foot, so he will thrive with someone who is patient and willing to accommodate him by providing extra support. He loves climbing on rope perches that give him additional support for his left foot. Ricki is slow to warm up to new people and requires patience while he gets comfortable in a new environment. Ricki is not the type of bird that will step up for everyone and will give warning bites when he feels that he is being pushed too far or he is particularly hormonal that day. These bites will leave a mark due to the size of his beak. A caregiver familiar with positive reinforcement training methods would be ideal for Ricki. Some of his favorite phrases are “Ricki needs a cracky” (his adorable version of 'cracker') and “hi Ricki boo-boo.” In addition to talking, he loves to stretch his vocal cords whenever his preferred person leaves the room. He does not like being away from his person and his volume level can get quite loud if he is feeling particularly sassy that day. Ricki would do well in a home with individuals who have experience reading large bird body language, with cockatoo-specific experience required. Because of his volume level, he would not be suitable for an apartment, condo, or duplex. Adoptable by Missouri Residents Only.
