#### Addie is an 8 year old Bichon Frise. She weighs 11 pounds and is gorgeous. She likes all the small dogs that she has been with in play groups. She prefers smaller play groups as fewer dogs mean fewer people. She is still getting used to humans. She is a shy girl who startles easily. She needs a special home where her adult-only home will help her progress at her own pace, which currently is on the slower side. She is a flight risk but we will help you with strategies to keep her safe at home. Addie is a special girl who needs a special person or family. She needs another dog to show her the ropes in her new home. They need a yard with a 4 foot high fence to explore and maybe someday, play in. She is not walking on a leash yet so exercise in the yard and mental exercise such as food puzzles will help her feel safer. She is very squirmy when held. While she isn't confident enough to approach people, she will eat treats gently tossed to her. That is a great way to start building trust. If you are looking for a calm girl who needs some extra patience and time to settle in, we hope you will apply to meet Addie at NMDR.org. - - - - - -Prior to being rescued, many of our dogs have experienced minimal socialization. As a result, there is often an adjustment period when learning about life as a family pet. We typically do not adopt to homes with young children. Homes with older children will be considered on an individual basis. Common skills such as house training and leash walking will often take extra time. Patience, understanding and a gentle hand are a must. The great news is, many of these dogs come around with patience and being a part of their rehabilitation is an extremely rewarding experience.
