Crested Geckos are wonderful little lizards that can be great companions for any dedicated reptile lover. "Cresties", also known as Eyelash Geckos, are an arboreal species that live in the humid forests of New Caledonia. That means that they need space to climb, lots of foliage, and plenty of vertical hiding places in addition to high humidity. They need moderate temperatures and do not tolerate high heat so keep that in mind with terrarium placement. They can be a little jumpy but are generally easy to handle and do not get very large. Crested Geckos can be primarily fed a commercial diet which makes mealtime easy, but of course a little variety is good too. And with a lifespan of 20 years or more you are sure to have your little friend for quite a while! Just like any other exotic species, we recommend doing thorough research before adopting.
