Kohler really needed our help. He found himself in a MD shelter for his fourth stay. He kept escaping from his family and they decided not to reclaim him. He was then adopted out by the shelter and returned for the same reason. Worried about his future, we stepped up to help him. Well, we now understand why he's been a traveling man. He's one brute of a smart boy. Probably smarter than most humans! He can open doors, gates, cabinets and refrigerators! Whoever adopts him will likely need to baby proof their home. It's clear someone has worked with him because he knows a lot of commands... Sit, stay, place, paw, down, etc. See video: fb.watch/pk5VXLlqks/ It's also clear Kohler is a working dog. He needs a lot of exercise and stimulation. While he may be middle aged, he can run circles around any adolescent Sibe. His drive is unmatched! He tires out the other Huskies and is ready for more. He LOVES to play with other dogs and doesn't have a mean bone in his body. He's a 'neck pusher' and seldom uses his mouth in play. If you have a resident dog in the home they must be playful! He likely needs 5 miles walk/jog/run a day or a huge area to run in. He's walking well on a no-pull harness. He will make a GREAT dog park candidate where there are large dogs only. He doesn't realize his own strength. He also has a prey drive so no small animals. We believe Kohler is likely 4-5 years old but his pearly whites may mean he's younger! He weighs 66lbs. Possibly a Husky/Malamute mix. He'll need an experienced and active owner who can keep him stimulated. He loves peanut butter bones and kongs and will entertain himself for hours with them so you'll need a good supply. He has a great voice, very baritone and is only vocal when he needs or wants something - i.e. to go on a walk or feeding time. He would likely be fine in an apartment if you're an active person. He's great on outings and likes to be included in adventures. He also loves the snow! Watch the video: youtu.be/sHxt3dKgATA?feature=shared Kohler is crate trained and you'll need to continue to crate train with him when no one is home so he doesn't get bored and into things. He will need a heavy duty crate but does quite well. We would not recommend a home with young children. ~~Husky Education And Rescue Team is a foster based rescue. Our dogs are in our foster homes all up and down the east coast. We do not have a facility in which you can visit. We find this a huge benefit because we learn our dogs and are able to educate our adopters on what it’s like to have them live in your home. Part of our process, once pre-approved, is to speak with the foster for the dog you’re interested in.
