Duties may include but are not limited to cleaning facilities using janitorial equipment including mops, brooms, buffing machines, vacuums, and various other kinds of equipment. Supervision: Received Works under minimal supervision. May work independently or with team for completion of assigned tasks. Participates in more complex and difficult custodial work; may oversee or lead a variety of tasks relative to the assigned area of responsibility. Essential Duties & ResponsibilitiesThese are typical responsibilities for this position and should not be construed as exclusive or all inclusive. May perform other duties as assigned. Trains lower-level employees in their areas of work in custodial methods, techniques, and in the set up and use of equipment. Monitors the appearance of the facility; checks floors, inspects, and monitors restrooms at least hourly every day; communicates with building supervisor to ensure that meeting rooms are clean and stocked, as needed. Verifies the team's work for accuracy, proper work methods, techniques, and compliance with applicable standards and specification; may ensure the adherence to safe work practices and procedures. Cleans the facility; cleans, sweeps, mops, and stocks the restrooms daily; strips, waxes, and buffs tile floors, as needed; cleans vents and/or as needed; may dust and polish furniture, window ledges, light fixtures, etc. Prepares rooms for meetings; communicates with building supervisor to ensure that clean and prepared for scheduled meetings, as needed. Monitors the grounds of the facility; inspects areas surrounding the facility, not limited to the parking lot throughout the day. Cleans the grounds of the facility; picks up debris / trash in the parking lot; removes debris / trash from walkway leading to facility, emptying trash receptacles. Identify and report building maintenance needs. Respond to public inquiries in a courteous manner; provide information, resolve complaints in an efficient and timely manner. Maintains a clean and organized workspace. Estimate time, materials, and equipment required for jobs assigned; requisition materials as required and stock supplies, records work progress and/or work performed.Data UtilizationRequires the ability to input, review, classify, categorize, prioritize, and/or analyze data. Includes exercising discretion in determining data classification, and in referencing such analysis to established standards for the purpose of recognizing actual or probable interactive effects and relationships.Decision Making Follows standardized procedures and written instructions to accomplish assigned tasks. may select from multiple procedures and methods to accomplish tasks. Leadership Provided Routinely provides work group leadership, guidance, and/or training to less experienced staff. May also oversee temporary or contract workers as needed. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities This is a partial listing of necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities required to perform the job successfully. It is not an exhaustive list.Knowledge of basic custodial procedures; of common hand tools and janitorial equipment. of principles of supervision and training; of occupational hazards and standard safety practices. Skill in the use of floor buffing machines, carpet shampooing machines, and other cleaning machines and the ability to learn about occupational hazards and safety precautions for the proper management of chemicals, trash, body fluids, etc.; to use common hand tools and janitorial equipment; to maintain professionalism to with visitors and employees of the facility Specialized cleaning methods in disinfection, electrostatic, and fogging; to understand and carry out oral and written instructions and posted schedules; to efficiently complete assigned tasks within work time. Use of computers.Ability to: communicate effectively both orally and in writing; to maintain effective working relationships with fellow employees, internal and external customers.Work Environment and Physical Requirements Occasionally lift 50 pounds or more, work in tight spaces, walk/stand/sit/bend for extended periods. May experience excessive noise. Work indoors and outdoors. Schedule shift may include evening hours, weekends, and holidays.QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Qualifications - Education and Experience High School Diploma or GED1-year related work experience Preferred Education & Experience 2-year related work experience 1 year technical or vocational education Licenses and Certifications Valid State of Georgia Driver License required.
