MARTIN Handcraft Committee Model Trumpet Bb Serial #143578Up for sale is a vintage horn that still plays and sounds amazing. I just don't have the time or chops to do it justice. It deserves to be played and not in a closet or on a wall. These horns continue to be difficult to locate and if you're reading this you know why - smoky, dark, creamy are all great adjectives for the sound.This is the medium #2 bore.ConditionSOLD-AS-IS. The horn has no lacquer - raw brass and nickel plating. It will turn a dark golden patina if left unpolished. The 3rd slide finger ring is NOT original (from later model Martin Committee) - but all other parts are numbered and appear to be original. The valves, caps, bottoms, stems and even the valve guides are numbered. They just don't build horns like this anymore.Everything comes apart (see photos) and moves as it should. There are some signs of professional repairs, dent work was definitely done on the bell crook. But it looks amazing for being more than 80 yrs old (hope I look this good at 80).I would rate the compression as OK - could probably use a valve/piston job at some point in the near future, but it still plays well and can reach the upper register without much effort. Use Hetman Classic valve oil and that seems to work well with this horn.IncludedThe horn will be shipped in a new Protec single trumpet case to ensure it arrives safely.
