#### Angel is a delightful 7 year old Beagle. She weighs 25 pounds. She loves dogs and loves playing outside. She's moved to a new level of happiness and comfort with her dog friends, where she gets happy zoomies around the yard. We know how scared she can be at other times, so it's wonderful to see her play with such reckless abandon. She does best in quiet predictable environments. She's afraid of being touched since she arrived at NMDR, but she did have one episode during a quiet moment when we rescued her in Missouri, when she sat next to a person and stayed for gentle scratches on her chest and shoulders. This gives us hope! If she can get to that point again, it will be through lots of patience and giving her time and space to come around. Her shyness is endearing. She is described as quiet, calm, low maintenance and crate trained. She adores being part of a pack and following bigger dogs around the yard. People are still pretty scary for this sweetie. She will eat treats gently thrown to her in play yards and occasionally, when one on one with an adult she knows, she will gently eat boiled chicken from their hands. She is making slow but steady progress. She remains a flight risk so needs an adult home where people are very aware of the risk of her escaping. We provide great info on how to prevent escapes when the adoption occurs and our rehab team will help you learn what is working for her. She loves a big yard and needs one with a 6 foot high fence as she can climb. Walking past people she doesn't know is very scary still so a quiet, predictable home will suit her well.Angel is truly an angel and we think you will love her like we do. She is worth the time it will take for her to settle in and be part of your family. As a result, there is often an adjustment period when learning about life as a family pet. We typically do not adopt to homes with young children. Homes with older children will be considered on an individual basis. Common skills such as house training and leash walking will often take a little extra time. Patience, understanding and a gentle hand are a must. The great news is, most of these dogs come around rather quickly and being a part of their rehabilitation is an extremely rewarding experience.
