Announcement # 2023-014 Closing Date : April 27, 2023 Salary Range : $4066 - $5032, per month The PERMIT TECHNICIAN position is full-time, 37.5 hours, Civil Service, and Union represented. Columbia County Land Development Services is seeking to fill a Permit Technician position to perform professional clerical and technical duties while applying highly skilled customer service relating to Building, Septic and Land Use Permits. Land Development Services is your best source of information related to land use, zoning, permitting, building construction, dividing land, and other general land development in unincorporated Columbia County. We provide technical assistance and information to help you take your project from idea to reality. The Building Division is entrusted with achieving compliance with applicable State laws and adopted building codes regarding building design and construction within unincorporated Columbia County and the City of Rainier. Building codes are in place to protect public health, safety, and general welfare as they relate to the construction and occupancy of buildings and structures. Our services include plan review, permitting, and inspections. The Planning Division is responsible for reviewing all development proposals within Columbia County's jurisdiction through the County's development ordinances. If you own property in Columbia County or are considering purchasing or developing property, contact us first and we will assist you in navigating the land use process by providing information related to zoning, environmental constraints (such as floodplain, wetlands, or other habitat areas), permitting, dividing land and general land development. DUTIES : Perform clerical and administrative duties in support of the Land Development Services department, including accepting and processing permit applications, issuing permits, answering the telephone and greeting public, providing requested information, typing, scheduling appointments, issuing receipts and maintaining records. EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE : High school graduate or equivalent and two years' of work experience which must include prior work experience or education in the land development related field. Any satisfactory combination of experience and training which demonstrates the ability to perform the above duties may be acceptable. CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS : Preference will be given for possession of certification as a Permit Technician from the International Code Council (ICC). KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITY : Knowledge of office practices and procedures. Organization and skills Microsoft Office Suite, BlueBeam, filing systems and permit tracking systems or Oregon e-Permitting. Ability to develop knowledge of laws and procedures relating to land use, building, on-site sewage issues and inspections. Ability to maintain effective working relationships with fellow employees, supervisors, other agencies, County officials and the general public.
