JOB SUMMARY: Serves as a Part-Time Public Policy Social Worker whose primary responsibility is to create a new and enhanced training plan focused on crisis intervention. ESSENTIAL FUNTIONS: Duties include, but are not limited to: • Create a new and enhanced training plan focused on crisis response and intervention trainings.• Analyze current public policies or initiatives, determine how they are weak or where they could be improved, and then work with other agencies to implement new public policies for better results.• Work with relevant stakeholders to plan, develop, and deploy best practices.• Propose and implement the new training plan.• Work with the Metro Mental Health Unit to teach and train the new plan.• Respond to crisis calls with the Metro Mental Health Unit as needed to help develop the new plan.• Meet performance standards established with UPD Policy.• Job attendance is required.• Demonstrate a high standard of confidentiality and sensitivity to the persons and/or families on cultural, ethnic, racial, socioeconomic issues and diversity.• Attend staff meetings and other meetings as assigned. EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION REQUIREMENT: • At least 18 years of age• Master's Degree in Social Work or Mental Health Counseling from an accredited college/university• Fully licensed, clinical social worker in the state of Utah• Valid Utah Class D Driver License KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: • Social casework principles• Ability to maintain an extreme level of confidentiality regarding investigative case content.• Ability to work independently as well as take initiative• Excellent written and verbal skills• Knowledge of the legislative process• Analytical and problem-solving skills• Computer skills• Political understanding and social savvy• Research or quantitative skills• Pass UPD comprehensive background check including BCIWORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS• Able to sit and work at a computer keyboard for extended periods of time.• Able to lift and move up to 25 pounds occasionally.• Deal with situations or conditions that may be psychologically traumatic.• Performs other duties as assigned IMPORTANT INFORMATION REGARDING THIS POSITION: • This position is Part-Time and employee will work 20 hours per week• UPD Civilian Uniform attire• This is a time-limited appointment that will end on or about September 30, 2025 Job Posted by ApplicantPro
